Greener Grass, a US Warehouse Update
Information in this blog pertains only to customers with US shipping addresses. If you are not in the US, operations are normal.
June 27th
Orders placed before June 27th are ready for pickup from our Canadian warehouse and will be on the way to the US warehouse for fulfillment as soon as our warehouse is back from the Canada long weekend.
New orders placed after June 26th will be shipped in batches every week until we have all of our stock fully transfered to the US warehouse. We're hoping to be fully ready by mid July.
Thank you so much for your patience while we navigate uncharted waters!
Additional information will be available in a new update as things come up.

We've wrapped up pre-orders so we're back to selling in-stock, but with one little caveat.
You've probably noticed a few notes around the site about items being on back-order for US customers. We don't want to close Carmico to the US while we finish the transition because we experienced an unexpected symptom when we closed the site the first time: customers didn't know that we had re-opened.
So, orders are open, you can buy to your heart's content! As of right now, our goal is to be ready to fulfill all orders in the US by July 4th.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns regarding these delays!
Additional information will be available in a new update as things come up.

The grass is looking greener on both sides of the border! We're bringing Carmico to a US-based fulfillment center in the next few weeks which means we're re-opening orders to the US!
Teahouse pre-orders are open for US customers since our new warehouse will be operational by the time we need to fulfill.
We’re just in the process of finalizing our US warehouse but we’re excited to say we’re almost there—we’ll be back to selling in-stock items to US customers within the month! Our decision has been delayed slightly because we’re having a hard time deciding between two exceptional options. Whatever we decide, your orders will be in good hands.
What this means
We paused orders to the US because we were critically aware of the customs fees imparted on US customers due to the revision of Section 321 (the de minimis exemption) in early May, in addition to Trump’s retaliatory tariffs. Retail shippers like UPS are evil and like to charge exorbitant customs brokerage fees in addition to what you would owe in tariffs. Rather than continue to sell to Americans and run the risk of shocking customs fees ruining your experience, we opted to find a US-based warehouse. This new US warehouse drastically reduces the impact on you. The most important part being:
The price you pay at checkout is the price you pay, no unexpected fees or charges.
We hope to keep Carmico accessible to US customers and we’re excited to have a hub closer to home. In addition to lower tariff impact, you’ll also benefit from faster transit times, easier returns, and some other new perks to be announced.
What about tariffs?
Tariffs are still on, but having the US warehouse means we pay the tariffs on the cost of the goods (how much we pay to have them made) to import the goods into the US, rather than you paying the tariffs on the value of the goods (the price of the item(s) in your order) to the carrier when they deliver your goods. Without getting into the details, this works out to massive amounts of savings on your end.
All of this to say
Carmico is a little more expensive for you (about 10%), but the extra price Americans pay should get back to you through tax allocation. In addition to that, now that we're in the US, everything gets easier for you when you order Carmico.
If you have any questions or concerns about anything related to your order, future order, our US operations, or tariffs in general, please contact hello@carmico.ca or join our Discord for non-order related discussion.
